Preservation is a process, not a box. Here is what actually happens between the last dance and the archive.
The first 48 hours
Air the garment in shade; do not attempt stains; photograph any marks so we know what they are.
Intake and treatment
We document the condition, treat every stain by hand with the right chemistry, then clean the garment on its own — by hand for embellished pieces.
Finishing and boxing
Steam-finished on a form, then folded with acid-free tissue into a rigid, breathable box with silica gel. Open it once a year to air and refold. Read about wedding wear cleaning.
